Teen Therapy in Windsor When For Everything Feels Like Too Much
Counselling for teens 16 and older, in person or online
Exams, group chats, friendships that shift overnight, and a future everyone keeps asking about. Many teens carry all of it quietly, and parents often sense that something has changed before anyone says it out loud.
Teen therapy at Designed Life Counselling Collective gives your teen a private space to talk with a Registered Social Worker. Sessions are held at our Windsor office at 4510 Rhodes Dr, or online across Ontario. We welcome families from Tecumseh, LaSalle, Amherstburg, and the rest of Windsor-Essex.
What Is Teen Counselling?
Talk therapy for teens, explained in plain language
Teen counselling, also called teen therapy, gives teens a private space to talk one-on-one with a trained therapist, understand what they are feeling, and build practical coping skills.
Unlike conversations with parents, teachers, or friends, therapy keeps the focus on what matters to your teen. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and strengths-based work.
Teens do not need to be in crisis to start therapy. Many seek support simply to better manage stress, friendships, self-esteem, or the transition after high school.
What Teen Therapy Can Help With
Therapy for teen anxiety, depression, stress, and self-esteem
Many teens are dealing with more than one thing at a time. Our therapists commonly support teens with:
- Anxiety: constant worry, panic, trouble sleeping, or dreading school
- Low mood and depression: feeling flat, hopeless, or disconnected from things that used to matter
- Self-esteem: harsh self-talk, comparing themselves to others, or feeling they are never enough
- Stress and life transitions: exams, graduation, new jobs, moving out, or big changes at home
- Grief and loss: the death of someone close, or another significant loss
- Trauma: difficult or frightening experiences, approached at a pace that feels safe
- Relationships and big emotions: friendship and dating struggles, family conflict, and feelings that are hard to manage
For more on anxiety support, see our anxiety therapy page. When the whole family is feeling the strain, family therapy is also available.

Frequently Asked Questions About Teen Therapy
Watch for changes that stick around: pulling away from friends, slipping grades, different sleep or eating habits, irritability, or lost interest in favourite things. You do not need to wait for a crisis. A free 20-minute consultation can help you decide.
Our teen therapists, Alex Lopez and Carly McGinlay, work with teens 16 and older. If your teen is younger, contact us before booking so we can confirm the right fit.
Your teen meets their therapist, talks about what brought them in, and shares what they would like to change. Nobody is expected to open up all at once. It is also a chance to ask how therapy works and whether the fit feels right.
Therapy is a private space. What your teen shares stays between them and their therapist. Limits set by law and professional standards apply, such as a risk of serious harm, and your therapist will explain them at the start.
Direct billing is available with many insurers, depending on the therapist. Check with your insurance company that your plan covers your therapist's service before the first session. If your insurer is not listed on our billing page, we can issue a receipt for reimbursement.
