Anxiety Can Show Up Differently for Everyone

Anxiety rarely looks the same from person to person. For some, it is a constant undercurrent of worry that makes it hard to relax, even when nothing is obviously wrong. For others, it arrives suddenly, with a racing heart, a tight chest, and a wave of fear that feels impossible to explain. For many people, anxiety centers on specific situations, like speaking up in a meeting, meeting new people, or worrying about physical symptoms that will not go away.

Common signs include racing or repetitive thoughts, muscle tension, trouble sleeping, restlessness, irritability, and avoiding situations that feel overwhelming. Left unaddressed, anxiety can quietly shrink your world, making it harder to work, connect with people you care about, or feel at ease in your own life.

At Designed Life Counselling Collective, we work with individuals of all ages across Windsor, Leamington, Kingsville, Amherstburg, Chatham, and the wider Windsor-Essex area, as well as clients joining us virtually from anywhere in Ontario. Whatever anxiety looks like for you, our Registered Psychotherapists and Social Workers are trained to help you understand what is driving it and build practical tools to manage it, so it stops running your day. Therapy gives you a structured, judgment-free space to work through what is happening and build a plan that actually fits your life. You do not need to wait until things feel unmanageable to reach out, and you do not need a specific diagnosis in hand before booking a first session.

Our Approach to Anxiety Counselling

Our team, led by clinic owner Dailah Mulder, RP, uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Emotion-Focused Therapy to build a plan around your specific triggers and goals. Anxiety-focused individual therapy is also delivered by Alex Lopez, MSW, and Carly McGinlay, MSW, both Registered Social Workers with a warm, trauma-informed style.

Sessions are available in person at our Windsor office, Suite 705 Unit B at 4510 Rhodes Dr, or virtually across Ontario. We move at whatever pace works for you, and many clients mix both formats.

Who We Help

Anxiety therapy at Designed Life Counselling Collective is built for real life, not a one-size-fits-all script. We see individual adults managing generalized anxiety, panic, or health worries, and we work with teens through our Teen Therapy program when school, friendships, or family transitions bring anxiety to the surface.

Anxiety linked to hormonal changes, whether during pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause, is supported by Stephanie Tramontozzi, RP (Qualifying), our women's mental health specialist, who integrates CBT and DBT for this specific stage of life. When anxiety is affecting a relationship, our Couples Therapy team can work with both partners on communication and connection alongside individual support.

New clients are always welcome, and most extended health plans offer some coverage for psychotherapy sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker. Not sure where to start? Our free 20 minute phone consultation is a low-pressure way to talk through what you are experiencing and find the right therapist fit before booking a full session.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Booking your first anxiety therapy session can feel like its own source of anxiety, and that is normal. Your first session is mostly about getting to know you, what is going on, how long you have been feeling this way, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping will be different. There is no pressure to have the right words for everything right away.

From there, your therapist will talk through an approach that fits your specific type of anxiety, whether that is generalized worry, panic, social anxiety, or health-related fear, and set a rough plan for the weeks ahead. Many clients start with our free 20 minute phone consultation first, which gives you a chance to ask questions and get a feel for the therapist before committing to a full session.

Sessions can happen in person at our Windsor office or virtually from home, and you are welcome to switch between the two as your schedule or comfort level changes.
